The Mountain Steve Wasn’t Sure I Had Ever Painted – Sunset, Thursday, Thanksgiving, 24 November 2016

William Van Doren, THE MOUNTAIN STEVE WASN’T SURE I HAD EVER PAINTED. Sunset from Stony Point, Albemarle County, Va. Oil on paper, 8 x 11.

All 11 people at our Thanksgiving dinner took a sunset walk through the fields (two of the 11 not yet old enough to walk), and my brother Steve (punctuation hawks, please note: not my only brother) pointed to a mountain near the sun and wondered aloud if I’d ever painted it. Yes, many times, and especially toward the end of the year, but then Steve isn’t online much, so that’s OK; he mainly knows the paintings of mine that are on his wall.
